The National Institute for Environment and Development in Suriname (NIMOS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are engaged in the multi-year project Improving Environmental Management in the Mining Sector of Suriname, with Emphasis on Artisanal and Small Scale Gold Mining (EMSAGS).
The EMSAGS project aims to improve environmental management in the mining sector of Suriname, with the emphasis on artisanal and small-scale gold mining as the biggest cause of deforestation in Suriname. The project is funded by, among others, the GEF through the UNDP and implementation is jointly the hands of the Ministry of Natural Resources and NIMOS.
The EMSAGS project invites applications for the following position:
Environmental and Social Impacts of Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) Expert.
This position is only open to national experts.
The Terms of Reference (ToR) and Personal History Form for the abovementioned consultancy can be downloaded below.
Interested candidates who meet the criteria mentioned in the Terms of Reference can send their technical- and financial proposal by email, no later than April 16, 2021at 16:00 hrs. Suriname time to info-EMSAGS@nimos.org
The subject title of the email should read: “Proposal for ESI ASGM Expert EMSAGS Project”.
