The National Institute for Environment and Development in Suriname (NIMOS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are engaged in the multi-year project Improving Environmental Management in the Mining Sector of Suriname, with Emphasis on Artisanal and Small Scale Gold Mining (EMSAGS).
The EMSAGS project aims to improve environmental management in the mining sector of Suriname, with the emphasis on artisanal and small-scale gold mining as the biggest cause of deforestation in Suriname. The project is funded by, among others, the GEF through the UNDP and implementation is jointly in the hands of the Ministry of Natural Resources and NIMOS.
The EMSAGS project invites applications for the following position:
Indigenous and Tribal People Stakeholder Engagement Specialist.
This position is only open to national consultants. The Terms of Reference can be downloaded below.
Interested candidates who meet the criteria mentioned in the Terms of Reference can send their technical- and financial proposal by email, no later than May 24, 2021 at 16:00 hrs. Suriname time to info-EMSAGS@nimos.org. The subject title of the email should read: “Proposal for ITPS Engagement Specialist EMSAGS Project”.
