The Minamata Initial Assessment project (MIA project) started in January 2017 and had an initial duration of 12 months. The project has been extended once and was financially completed in January 2019.
The aim of this project is: “to undertake a study of mercury prevention in Suriname to enable the government to determine the national requirements and needs for the ratification of the Minamata Convention and to come to a sound basis for the implementation of The treaty.”
NIMOS is responsible for technical coordination.
