Project Description
The National Action Plan for the ASGM in Suriname project (NAP project) started in December of 2017. This project has a duration of 2 years. The aim of this project is to formulate a national action plan to enable the government to determine national requirements, needs, goals and schemes to limit the use of mercury (Hg) in the small-scale gold mining sector (ASGM) and processing or stop.
NIMOS is responsible for technical coordination.
The project has the following elements:

An analysis of the artisanal and small-scale gold mining industry (ASGM);

Develop and / or strengthen institutions and further promote the reduction / stopping of mercury use and emissions;

Developing a National Action Plan for Suriname.
